Acoustic Polymers offer a range of ‘castable’ and pre-moulded glass sphere epoxy syntactic foams with ocean depth ratings to greater than 7,000 metres.
These syntactic foams are used in such areas as acoustic transducer construction, buoyancy devices and thermal insulation cladding.
Supplied as standard in 2 part “liquid” kits, this provides the end user with the option of casting detailed shapes without subsequent wasteful and costly, block machining.
The fluid and searching viscosity of the mixed material allows for fine detail reproduction by moulding and allows near-net shaping of hollow or cut-out components, thus reducing the amount of final machining needed.
Cured products are hard, tough, have low specific gravity and exhibit a high hydrostatic compressive strength and excellent chemical resistance. The material is non conducting and is therefore suited to encapsulating electronics which are to be used at depth.
Syntactic foam is available in three standard grades to give the best performance/cost ratio. Acoustic Polymers Ltd also offer a customer moulding service.
